Church History

In April of 1945 William W. Bradley and a group of organizers, former members of the 23rd Street Baptist Church Ensley, Reverend Rainey as pastor. The group decided to separate themselves from the church based on an indifference of belief. The group of organizers decided to form a committee and establish their own church. The committee organizers included the following members: Mattie Avery, Florence Bradley, Nora Turk, Deacon Jerry Jones, Bea Etta Hall, Frankie Ann Brown, George Walter, Henrietta Jones, Deacon Henry Jones, Annie Turner, Deacon Sam Turk, Deacon Charlie Williams, Deacon Lewis Avery, Evelena Leonard, Will Jones, Deacon Isaac Sharp, Dora Mainer, Annie Jones, Deacon Clifton Ryan, and O.R. Bradley. Through prayer and consideration Reverend William B. Bradley was asked by the committee organizer to take the lead and serve as their pastor. Under his (W.B. Bradley) leadership, the church was formed. Deacon Jerry Jones mortgage his home to pay for the land and the first wooden structure was erected at 1516 20th place Ensley. The Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church was born. Membership increased by the numbers and several organizations evolved. In 1987 W. B Bradley Passed away and Reverend Charles Johnson Jr. became the next pastor of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until retirement. Reverend Roger T. Malone Sr. took over of the church in 1991 as interim pastor until a search committee was formed in search of a new pastor. Roger T. Malone was asked by the deacon board and general members of the church to consider the awesome responsibility of full time leadership of the church. Reverend R.T. Malone accepted the invitation and placed his name on the ballot, as a candidate for the job. In 1992 Reverend Malone took over the helm and has served faithfully until the present. Membership has increase immensely over the years and still growing by leaps and bounds faithfully, spiritually, physically and financially. The LORD  gave Rev. Malone a vision to build and expand at the existing location and the church faithfully supported the vision of the pastor.  On October 10th 2007 the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church members purchased land adjacent to the existing church building with the intent to build a new sanctuary. On June 4th 2009 the New Pleasant View MBC hired Milner and Mayne Architects and Bonds Contractors to build the new sanctuary.  Ground breaking took place August 27th 2011and the construction of the new sanctuary was completed August 3rd 2012. On August 12th 2012, The New pleasant View MBC held its dedicatory church service.
